Nari Governing Council 2018-2021

Our current Council (2018 – 2021)

Our Council is responsible for providing governance of the institute as specified in the NARI Act 1996. The Council’s role generally is to set strategic directions and determine structures for control and accountability. It is the final Authority of the institute and reports to the Minister for Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology.

It consists of representatives of smallholder farmers from the highlands and southern regions; growers’ association; smallholder women farmers; University of Papua New Guinea; and the University of Technology. Other members (ex-ofico) consists of the Secretary for Treasury or his/her nominee; Secretary of the Department of Agriculture and Livestock or his/her nominee; and our Director General. Staff is represented to the Council through an elected staff member and is considered as an observer.
