Nominations now open for new Members on NARI Council
NARI is the lead organisation established for conducting and fostering applied and development oriented research in the agricultural and rural development sectors in PNG. Besides, NARI is responsible for providing analytical, diagnostic and advisory services and up-to-date information to the agriculture sector in the country.
NARI is calling nominations and expressions of interest for new Council Members. The term of the current members of the Council expires on 15th June 2009 and new members for a term of three years are to be appointed to take office effective from 16th June 2009. These appointments will be made on the basis of recommendation by the Minister for Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology to the National Executive Council.
1. Nominations on NARI Council - Member Representing PNG Growers' Association
Section 7.1 (g) of the NARI Act 1996 provides for one member representing growers’ associations to be on the NARI Council. Such a member needs to be nominated by legally recognised growers’ (farmers’) association (organisation) in the agriculture sector. We hereby invite nominations from legally recognised growers’ associations in the PNG agriculture sector. Please forward your nomination with CV of the nominated candidate and registration number of your association (organisation) to the following address.
2. Expressions of Interest for NARI Council - Members Representing Smallholder Farmers
Section 7.1 (f) of the NARI Act 1996 provides for three smallholder farmers to be members on the NARI Council. At least one of these members shall be a woman. We hereby invite expressions of interest from smallholder farmers, including women farmers, for the Minister’s consideration. Please forward your expression of interest with a copy of your bio-data to the following address.
