Machinery to aid seed multiplication

Acting Director General Dr Sergie Bang and NARI staff during the presentation

NARI has purchased a new tractor to support its research work and the multiplication of seed planting materials, including rice at the Momase Regional Centre (MRC).

Acting Director General Dr Sergie Bang presented the tractor to MRC Manager James Maima.

The tractor supplements aging equipment and increases the capacity of the MRC to carry out field trials and seed multiplication.

With this tractor, we have been able to extend our production area for foundation seed, especially new bean varieties for climate resilience and rice, in support of the government rice development initiative.
