Technology Validation and Commercialisation
2. Technology Validation and Commercialisation for the Dry Lowlands
NARI has officially released a number of technologies based on its research results and available information. This project was designed to test and validate a range of technologies selected for appropriateness to the dry lowlands environment in commercial plantings.
Activities include demonstration of a range of agricultural enterprises based on technologies and crop varieties developed by NARI or judged suitable for the Laloki Valley environment and Port Moresby market, and dissemination of technical information and planting materials to the people of the dry lowland areas, thereby giving them greater ability to improve their livelihoods through food security, improved nutritional status and income generating opportunities. The programme will continue and develop further collaboration with other institutions and smallholder farmers in the vicinity.
